"Allow network users to log in..." is missing

I hope someone can shed some light on this.

I have bound a 10.6.4 machine to a Windows domain successfully. However, the checkbox to "allow network users to login at login window" is missing completely. There's a blank space. I've already set up 3 macbooks that are brand new and from the same order as this one and the option was there on all of them.

Am I missing something simple? This is a new machine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is keeping us from allowing domain users to log on. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem... well sort of. I've been using this MacBook 10.8.2 joined to the domain for a couple months. Yesterday I removed it from the domain for some certificate testing. I later rejoined the domain but even after rejoining the domain a couple times I still don't have the option to allow network users to log in. The check box is just missing on the Users & Groups dialog. AppleCare walked me through hard drive scan, permission checks utility and finally an OS reinstall but nothing fixes it.

I'm down to wiping the hard drive and spending the rest of the day reinstalling everything. As my coworker says... Fun Times!

Problem resolved. The AD computer object had been modified by a Windows 7 computer of the same name that i had used for the perpose of creating a certificate for 802.1x connection on the Mac. When the Mac rejoined AD it did not create a new object but didn't fully work with the existing AD object either. I deleted the computer object in AD and rejoined. Issue resolved. My "Allow network users to log in" option is back and working correctly.
