How can I check if my Sitecom MD-253 NAS is still reachable with samba on OSX Lion?

Here are two utilities for making a complete backup of your internal hard drive. I've recommend using one of these so that you can create a bootable system on your external hard drive. Once created, you can run your system from the external drive. Hold down the option key on your keyboard then power on your machine. This will bring you in startup manager click on the drive image you wish to boot then click on the arrow key to the right.

I have the same problem with my Conceptronic CH3HNAS and have found a free and easy solution.

Since a lot of people report they are able to access their NAS using apps other than the Finder itself, I decided to look for a free Lion-compatible File Manager to use instead of Finder.

I have found muCommander ( http://www.mucommander.com/ ) and indeed it works fine. All I did was click on the button highlighted bellow, go to "bonjour services" and select my NAS. It prompted me for my username and password and voilá, it works fine.

I keep Finder for everyday use and just load muCommander when I want to access the NAS. At least now I don't have to start my WinXP VM anymore just to access it.

Hope it helps you.

Hi,

I too am hit by this predicament. I just bought a Dlink DNS-313 Rev B1. I can't access the shares on my Dlink DNS-313 from Finder on my 2011 Mac Mini with Lion. It keeps saying that I don't have permission to see it's contents. The server isn't password protected. Heck, I can even still perform the file transfer by hand the hard way via terminal after mounting the share and dismissing the error, and I can still browse the server on finder normally if I connect via finder itself (the server shows up under "Shared") - I just can't copy files to and from the NAS, or open the files. This doesn't make sense.
