Enabling encryption on AppleVNCServer

I'm tying to use VNC Viewer (RealVNC) iOS app, connecting to my own Mac running 10.6.8.

The connection works fine, and I can control my Mac, but reports the connection is unencrypted. This is the case over Wifi and 3G.

I have also tried to use both "Screen Sharing" and "Remote Management" from Preferences->Sharing.

How do I enable encryption?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

To the best of my knowledge, you can't do this when using a third-party VNC application. It only works when using screen sharing between two Mac OS X systems. Unless an iOS VNC app supports tunnelling via SSH, you may need to look for another remote control solution that does support encryption, such as TeamViewer.

BTW, this forum is for questions about Apple Remote Desktop, Apple's software for managing networks Macs. General questions about screen sharing would be best posted in the Mac OS X forum.

Regards.
