Since you have the "exact" same problem, why don't you do any of the following:

If you have AppleCare and/or still under warranty, give them a call. If not, take your iPod to your local Apple Store or AASP. Let them properly diagnose the problem and provide you w/a repair estimate.

U.S. iPod and Mac technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)

Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase. If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.

i had same problem checked all forums and nothin worked then my ipod by mistake fell on the floor while plugged into the computer stuck on logo and it started working. This was also after i downloaded the firmware from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ and installed it using shift+click restore so that might have solved it. More likely that the falling on the floor had to do with it.

So I had same problem and could not get the darn thing to work. I mean I did multiple reboots/restores and all that fun stuff so I dunno if any of them had any effect. But when I read Zukebutt's falling to the floor thing I just kind of hit mine a few times on the back side and it started working. Like I said something else could of been what triggered but it started working only after I hit it and didn't do anything else.

I have Silver 8gig 4th Gen IPod Nano.
