I currently have the exact problem. I can get the videos to load and play in You Tube by adding the "s" in https:// www.youtube.com, but that doesn't load automatically and is a pain. The same thing happens in FireFox too.

I have cleared cache, reset Safari, uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, run disk utilities, run Cocktail, and restarted and still videos don't load.

I find it odd and that the answer must be pretty simple if it works by changing http:// into https://.

Any help on what to do to fix this? I am pretty Mac savvy, but this stumps me!

Same thing is happening to me. Last night everything worked great. Suddenly, I turn on my computer a few hours ago and no matter what browser I use (Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome) none of them will play youtube videos, just a black screen appears with no video controls or anything.

I have reinstalled and updated Flash Player and Firefox and the problem still continues as of July 7, 2011.

Vimeo does work fine but youtube videos, whether embedded or played directly off the website do not work.
