Link Aggregation with Aiport Extreme and a TEG-160WS

I have a early 2008 Mac Pro which is currently connected to my home network using a Airport Extreme Dual Band Gigabit router.

I had a hard disk fail, and decided to improve the reliability of my storage by upgrading to an NAS. I just bought a Synology DS1511+ NAS which has two ethernet ports that can be combined using Link Aggregation.

I also bought a Trendnet TEG-160WS 16-port switch which supports link aggregation.

My plan is to keep the Airport Extreme as my connection to the WAN, and connect the Trendnet to the Airport Extreme. I would then connect all of my computers and my ethernet printer to the Trendnet. I plan on using both ethernet ports on my MacPro to set up link aggregation, and will do the same with the DS1511+.

I am assuming (hoping) that the local network traffic will all stay within the Trendnet switch so that I will be able to take advantage of the link aggregation for transfers between my Mac Pro and the DS1511+. Is this a correct assumption?

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I realize your question was more than a year ago and I'm guessing you've found your own answer by now. But for anyone that may need to know - the Synology NAS requires LACP, which is dynamic link aggregation. This particular switch supports only static link aggregation. You would really want to look for another switch if intending to utlizing with a Synology NAS.
