What is the best software to convert .mov to .wmv?

There are many online apps can help you convert MOV video to WMV video, such as zamzar, Acethinker Video Converter, mediaconverter, etc. They are totally free, and you don't have to download or install anything.

Flip4Mac is the only real encoder for WMV

Sorenson Squeeze will do it also. I've got both. I've got Squeeze for it's flash encoding but generally prefer Compressor for it's integration with final cut studio. I've never done a head to head comparison. Flip4Mac offers a variety of tools with a range of prices, all of which I'm pretty sure are cheaper than Squeeze.

If i remember correctly flip4mac is around 30.00 - I believe you need flip4mac studio, straight flip4mac is a player only.

There are a couple of other wrinkles depending on how current your OS and FCPS are. You do need QT7, Flip4Mac operates a more or less a QT plugin accessible through QT or compressor, Unfortunately because of a change to QT 10 the QT export or compressor options dont give you access to the Flip4Mac .WMV settings.

QT 7 can be installed from your snow leopard disk from the optional installs.

I am using Total Video Converter from EffectMatrix, as its famous overwhelming windows version.

I always do my mts from my DV to mov conversion, then edit mov files in iMovie. A easy-to-use and user-friendly tool .🙂

Suggest you to try Video Converter program. It's hard to tell it's best or not, but I used it for many times converting QuickTime MOV videos to WMV in batch. The quality of the converted videos remains good.
