Can I go back to previous slides when presenting?

I would like to know if it is possible to go back when making a Keynote presentation on an iPad2. This sometimes necessary when the audience asks questions about previous slides

iPad 2, iOS 4.3.2

Touch the left side of the screen or swipe from left to right to go back.

Alternately, create an index page that has a table of contents using text and a hyperlink to each slide...then, add a link to the footer of each slide that links to the table of contents slide...which then has links to ever slide in your presentation.

The bummer for me is that is does not appear to be possible to have backwards transitions. For example, the "push" transition does not work when going back a slide, only forward...in both Mac OSX and iOS versions.
