Repair Disk Permission, How Often?

Please suggest best practice regarding this? I noticed that I needed to verify/repair disk permisison about once a week.

Hello:

As Terrence said, if it is not broken, don't fix it. IMHO, repairing permissions is a waste of time (although I admit I do it after software updates). Permission repair (back in the "old days") used to be a cure-all for all problems. People whispered in hushed voices "repair permissions." The "old days" are gone.

The messages you get when you repair permissions are (almost always) routine information messages - although they mean nothing to me. There are knowledge base articles on those messages if you want more information.
