iTunes Library issue...

Sorry of this is on the wrong topic...

I own a 4th Gen ipod touch, and a Macbook Pro.

I recently started facing a few problems with my MBP and I decided to reinstall Snow Leopard on the same. So, I decided to take a backup of my songs (non-iTunes Purchases) onto an external hard drive. But unfortunately, the write to the drive apparently failed, and I have no backup of my iTunes library... The only backup I have is on my iPod Touch...

I have disabled auto syncing for now- But I like being able to sync with my computer for songs apps, books and the like.

Is there a free way to get that library onto my mac, without worrying about losing everything from my iPod touch also? What are my alternatives?
