I have an iPhone 4. Two weeks ago I got a nasty phone call from a private number and I'm wondering if there's a way for me to find out what the number was. Even if i just had the area code of the caller it would narrow it down a lot. Are there any apps I can look into? Would ATT help me if I called?

If they made anything that could be interpreted as a threat, file a police report. They can get a court order to get the number of the caller from the carrier. There is nothing you, as a private citizen, can do about it.
Of course AT&T cannot.
The owner of that phone number has elected to hide the number from caller i.d. It would be a violation of privacy rights to then turn around and provide that info to you.
So using a program like Trapcall is a "violation of rights"?
