How can I make adjustments made in iphoto appear on my photos in ipad?

If I make some brush alterations to get rid of smudges or dust in iphoto they do not clean up on the pictures on my ipad after sync. Colour correction is transfered to the pictures on my ipad and iphone but not other alterations. Please can anyone help?
