Q: x64 not supported - fixed
Hello everyone
If anyone is having issues installing Bootcamp drivers 3.0 from the Snow Leopard disc on Windows 7 64-bit and getting the x64 not supported message (my iMac is an early 2009 20 inch) when you put in your Snow Leopard disk I believe i have found the solution.
Put the snow leopard disk in and it will likely auto boot and give you the error message. Ok the message then go into "My Computer" and right click on your dvd drive and select open. Then double click the "boot camp" folder then the "drivers" folder, then the "apple" folder and you will see a file called "Bootcamp64". Right click the file and then choose "troubleshoot compatibility" from the menu. Windows 7 will then detect an issue with the file and it should say something like "windows compatibility mode: skip version check" with a button below saying "start the program". Click on this and it should then start the boot camp driver installer (albeit in the background - you will see your task bar icon flash) and you should then be able to install 3.0 drivers followed by 3.1 and 3.2 which you can download from Apple's website.
Now just so your aware I actually copied the entire Boot Camp driver folder from the dvd to my desktop and did it this way so i'm only guessing that it will work the same from the DVD but either way you should now get the full benefit of boot camp drivers on your machine!
Cheers
