When I tried to sync my newly purchased iPhone to my iTunes, I was told that the iPhone only works with iTunes version 10 and above. When I went to the iTunes page, the currently available version is iTunes 10.3 which is not compatible with my current operating system of Mac OS X. What can I do to be able to transfer music from my iTunes to my iPhone without having to repurchase music?

What is the version of Mac OS X you are running.
Go to Apple menu > About This Mac.

and I think my current version of iTunes is 9...
from what I understand, I have to update my entire operating system to the Leopard?

a Leopard install DVD will cost around $ 130 while Snow Leopard can be had for around $ 30.
