Importing .EPS into Final Cut

Hello, I'm editing a corporate video and have to add transparent company logo. They sent me logo .EPS file. How do I get it into Final Cut Pro?

Do I need to buy Photoshop to create a .PNG file? the TIFF does not import into FCP.

Thanks~

While TIF is a supported file format, I have found that tif files that have been moved around, especially between Windoze servers and Macintosh versions of Photoshop, may not always import into FCP, drives me nuts. I get an unsupported file error in FCP yet the file is perfectly viable in Preview and PS.

Getting transparency out of a TIF and converting it to PNG is a Photoshop function, quicklky located wsithin the PS help system. However, if you don't know PS inside and out, the function can be confusing and frustrating because PS assumes you are working with inks on white paper. Its idea of transparency is not FCP's. Your easiest route to satisfaction is to either send the file to a friend who understands PS or ask the source to send you a file specifically designed for use in video. That will not happen because the source's PS people don't know from video.

When you open the EPS in preview does the logo have a white background or a gray background?... if it has a white background it means it is not transparent for whatever reason (such as there is a white box in the actual logo)...Anyhow, in Preview you can do an Instant Alpha Selection (select tool, click and drag, press delete)

However, I think it may not work with an EPS, which is vector.... Only with raster images, in which case you would have to save as a PNG, PSD, TIFF, etc...
