Hi,
Use apple+shift+4 and then you can select an area to screen dump. Then you can print the jpg or pdf (I can't remember which) that appears on your desktop.
:)
Or you can print the webpage as a PDF and print highlighted sections from it.
Hope this helps.
:)
I hate to sound stupid, but where is the apple key in apple+shift+4? I understand shift +4 but I can't find an apple key.
The key is the same as the ⌘ (command) key.
I have wondered the same thing and just posted something about it, and find this an unfortunately cumbersome way to print a selection. I love my MacBook Pro, but there are a few things--like these print options--that seem like no-brainers. I wish Apple would put them in their software.
Just highlight the area of the webpage that you want. Go up to where it says "file" on your browser. Then select "print" from the dropdown menu. The print window will appear, there should be a box that you can check that says, "Print Selection" - check this box and it should only print what you have highlighted. You can also copy and paste what you want from the site into microsoft word (If you have it) and go to file - print - and check "print selection" the same was as in the browser and this should get you started printing what you want as a selection.

Firefox has this. Safari doesn't. How useful is that of Safari?
Thanks for the suggestions. I figured it out. And I'm pretty amazed at the problem.
@mooblie: I accessed the doc in question through Firefox and lo and behold, it is as Kroope said. I have been in Chrome and the File/Print window does not have a "print selection" button. How illogical is that?
I am baffled that my File/Print window looks different between browsers. Safari and Chrome, they're similar. Firefox, totally different. Firefox is the only one in which the "print selection" option appears.
I didn't think to try it through a different browser because I thought the Print options were driven by the printer or the computer, not the web browser! Am I off base about this?
Whichever browser you are using has that printer setting built in, or in Google chrome's case, does not have that option built in - but most browsers should give you that option - i know for a fact that Microsoft Word has one so i usually just paste the selection into microsoft word - then go to gile - and then print - and then print selection - because it does not always print perfectly through the browser, but if you paste the selection into microsoft word it will make it nice and neat and in a format that your printer can handle easily - hope that helps!
Good info. Learn something new everyday.
The free "Print Selection" service works perfectly in Safari 5 and Snow Leopard (in all applications I have, actually). Find it on MacUpdate, download, and install. Then go to Services activate it universally, for the Services menu and the right-click menu once you have text selected.
But beforehand, you might as well download and install the Services Manager from "Mac OS-X Automation" to make it easier to deal with all Services. That ought to be included in OS-X by design!
