Deleting bookmarks on ipad

When I try to delete a bookmark from the bar using "edit", "delete", and "done", it's still there. Why?

AFAIK - You are following the correct steps if the bookmarks were created on the iPad and not being synced. Try restarting your iPad or resetting it.

Restart by holding the sleep button until the red slider appears then slide to shut down. Then press the sleep button until the Apple logo appears to start Jo.

Reset by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

You could try this .....Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Restart you iPad and see if you can eliminate the bookmark. It will delete all of those items (hsitory, cookies, cache) but might be worth it.

Or try Settings>Safari>Databases> and start deleting those or any database that may be from that bookmarked site. This will do no harm. When you visit one of those sites again, the database will come back.

Once again, restart if you try this.

Hi, Demo. Thanks for trying to help me. I tried the first suggestion, to no avail, and I don't see "Databases" in Settings>Safari. Darned bookmarks just wanna stay with me for life! I don't seem to be able to delete ANY of my bookmarks, so maybe I'm doing something wrong! I tap the Bookmarks Icon>Bookmarks Bar>Edit>the bookmark in question>Red Line Icon>Delete>Done. Is there a step after that I'm missing?

No - you are not missing a step. Don't tap the bookmark itself - just the red line next to it - correct? That is the procedure to delete the bookmark from the bookmarks bar - the bar that resides under the address field and the search field. That is the bookmarks bar.

You are try to delete the bookmarks from there - correct? If you just want to delete a bookmark from the bookmarks list you tap the Bookmarks Icon>Edit>Red Line>Delete>Done.

duzie.... I'm sorry we weren't able to get this resolved. I'm guessing that one day, for whatever mysterious reason, it will begin working again for you. You are following the proper steps to delete bookmarks.

I just wanted to follow up on databases in Safari. When you log onto certain sites - for instance - the iPad user guide via the Safari bookmark - a database will be installed on your iPad from that site. If you have any databases in Safari you will see them under Accept Cookies in the Safari settings.

This explains databases better than I ever could if you care to read it.
