I am looking at converting my .doc files to pages files but I am unsure. I was wondering if it's worth converting my .doc (some .docx) files or just leave them as they are.

You can convert files as you need or do it all at once (I wouldn't). Just be aware that the conversion/translation process is rarely perfect. The more complex the Word document, the more likely there will be "differences."

Pages format is beter for current documents as they can be sent in either Pages or Word Format.
