Safari font size on ebay is getting smaller and smaller. How to stop that..

Safari font issues on Ebay

I have the ipad2.When I go to the ebay website some of the pages are almost unreadable without zooming in on the text.

EBay starts to open in normal font. As it loads, the font gets smaller, When I go into different link on Ebay it gets even more smaller. More link I go into smaller it gets until it is unreadable.

This may happen on other sites for other people.

How do I peep it to same size all the time?

You may be unknowingly pinching the screen to zoom out? Try putting two fingers on the screen and pulling them apart, it should zoom you back in.

I know what you mean and its not that. There are others who are having the same problem.

I can zoom in and view but not the full page. When the full page is displayed it makes the font so small that I cant read it. The home page of ebay starts off fine, its when I go in to another link on ebay when the font gets smaller. Any link after that gets so small that I can't read it without zooming in to the page it self.

Is it happening just with eBay? Maybe download they don't have a mobile version of their site, try downloading the eBay app?

I haven't seen it happen on other sites. However others on google search had found the same problem. I don't really like Ebay app. also I can't see any messages on it. I wanted to get others to point out if they are having the same problem may be apple can resolve it.

I haven't seen that problem on ebay at all.

I think you need to go into a little more detail on exactly what you are doing on ebay. Perhaps an example of where you are having the problem might help.

I will go through this step by step.

Find ebay site either by google search or typing the address.

On ebay site ‘Click’ Login it, then login as normal in to your home page what ever it may be. } All these time the font is fine and I can view the full page from the left to right and scroll down to see me of the page.

Now click on My Ebay and select Watch List. } When that’s loading up it looks ok for a bit and visible but As soon as the page fully loaded the font become small and the page is fully visible but the font is small.

Next lets go into another link on ebay. E.g Purchase history by clicking on My ebay and selecting that link. Once again when the page is loading up it looks ok for a bit but as soon as fully loaded the fonts are even smaller then before to a point I can’t see. I at that point have to zoom in to view any writing.

If I then go back to the Watch list the fonts are even smaller then the last time..lol After that I just give up… and use the Ebay App

When I got the Ipad2 first I don’t think it did that. It started to do this from yesterday and I only had it for less then a week now.

I tried your steps and couldn't reproduce your problem.

You might want to try Settings > Safari > Clear History, Clear Cookies, and Clear Cache.

Also try resetting your iPad (Press both the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears - about 10 seconds).

I tried opening the links you suggested and it appears to be just the way eBay has chosen to format these pages. The pages are formatted wide with a smaller font. I don't know if the new reader option that is coming in iOS 5 will help with this. I have seen other sites that have smaller fonts than are ideal for mobile Safari, but it's not as easy for Apple to fix them as for the site designers. There are third party browsers that allow changing the font size without zooming but haven't found one yet that doesn't cram the letters together or somehow mess up the formatting.

Best solution is to use the eBay app and only use safari when you can't get the page you need from there.

You may be right but in my case it just keeps getting smaller. If I go in to a page it's small. Go to another it's smaller come back to the first page it smaller then before..lol

I can reproduce the problem on my iPad1, and my wife has the same problem on her ipad2.

To reproduce, put several items on your eBay watch list, then try to delete one by selecting the item in the checkbox next to the item, scroll back to the top of the page and press delete. Do this a couple of times if it doesn't happen the first time. When the page reloads, the font becomes so tiny it is unreadable. Refreshing the page and pressing submit returns the page to the original font size.

Very annoying.

Surprised that few others are having this problem when it is so easily reproducible.

The eBay app is not an option as it lacks so many features.

I have this problem as well. It happens on any eBay search page, but it is intermittent. The page will start out with the correct font size, then it will start shrinking until the font is extremely tiny. Refreshing the page sometimes works.

I have this same problem on my ipad2, never had it on my ipad1. It's so annoying. I'm a seller and use my ipad2 all the time for eBay. I hate the eBay app, you can "do" nothing with it. Wish I could figure out a way to fix this.

I also have the same problem. Even my brand new replacement iPad1 does it. Os5 installed.

Safari crashes at least 5 times a day, really annoying and disappointing for a "premium" product.
