my ipad wont charge,through my laptop or plugged into the mains ?????

Have you tried a different cable?

USB port probably won't have enough juice to charge, or it may be a very slow one. Are you using th esupplied adapter to plug into the mains? Other than that, another cable may help

and what's happening, does it say 'not charging' ?

The laptop situation is normal

How do you know it's not charging with the mains, have you left it and come back or are you just assuming?

Either try a different cable or take it in to have someone try it there

Plug it in and leave it charging overnight, if by tomorrow morning it has not charged you'll take it in, my feeling is nothing is wrong (the iPad clearly works because it informs you that it is not charging when connected to your laptop, a situation that is very common, it does not do that when connected to an AC supply so it appears that it is charging)

You might not be the first person in the world that hadn't flicked the switch on the mains outlet to "On".

Hi, I appear to have the same problem as the other use. I have tried different cables etc and they all work when using mains and when connected to a MAC. won't charge when connected via same cable to laptop/computer comes up "not charging" but I know its charging and tells me when on to mains/MAC. I read with interest about Mains outlet??? Sorry if sound pretty dense but what and where? New to this whole world. Thanks
