Ipad2 not able to log into youtube account using youtube app

I can no longer login to my youtube account using the standard Ipad2 youtube app. It was working, I think, up until I unlinked my youtube account with an old gmail account, and re-linked it to a new gmail account.

I tested by unlinking the accounts and I was successfully able to login to my base youtube account (no linked gmail account) using the youtube app. Once I linked my youtube account with my gmail account, I was not able to login again in the youtube app (using my gmail login info).

I can login to m.youtube.com just fine in Safari, with my gmail account info.

What can I do to fix this? It is very annoying.

Thanks.

I have sort of same issue, I just got my iPad2 yesterday and started to play with everything of course and i touched the youtube app and logged in on my dads account cause he had asked me to check something out. well now. I want to log in on my account and i get a message saying "Authentication Failed The Username or Password you entered is incorrect". So I naturally went on safari logged into gmail reset password and tried again same thing. i check setting in gmail tried the 2 step password didnt work. Lets just say i have been at this for 3 hours trying to figure out my issue is and have tried everything that i have read Just so you know I can go to youtube site and log in fine So I know my info im entering is correct.. So guess what i tried next, Logging in on my dads account threw the app and guess what that works so whats my issue why cant i log in on my account.. Can you tell me please?

If you are using 2-step authentication with gmail/google, you need to create an "Application specific password" for your iPad. This is what was causing my problem. Here are the steps to creating a app specific password:

1. Login to your google account

2. Go to "Account Settings"

3. Click on "Edit" next to "Authorising applications & sites"

4. Go down to the section "Step 1 of 2: Generate a new application-specific password"

5. Put iPad or whatever in the Name field and click generate password.

6. Use that password to login to your youtube app on you iPad.

I had to do this for any app that used a google or affiliated login. Again this is *only* if you are using 2-step authentication with google (which you should be 🙂 ).

Hope that helps.

I did that and no it didn't help.. I can log into my dads account threw app on ipad which is the one I first logged in with I don't want to use that one.. I sign out of it and tried to long with the my personal account and it won't let me. I tried resetting rebooting everything.. Still nothing I'm giving up on it. I am pretty sure I'm getting the error because it's got my dads account memorized and so when I try to log in with mine is the reason I get the error.. At least this is what I think.. I'm new to this iPad only had it 3 days..

I figured it out ! Yay. Ok here's the steps

Go to www.youtube.com from pc not ur iPad

Hit drp down next to you photo you'll see then on right google settings and on left side of line YouTube setting that is what you want to select

Then click Mobile Setup at this screen you'll create a username now if you were using the YouTube account before it switch to google don't create a new one you have one. If you never had a YouTube and started one create a name here..

For those of you like me who have had YouTube for years and have. Use you youtube Sign in name. I'm workin on figuring how to link my account with google
