Linking a counter, mail link, and a comment spot

counters and an e-mail link are built into iweb i am currentley looking for a workaround so you can put a comment form on your blog

You can display a counter that keeps track of how many times a webpage has been viewed (how many "hits" it has received). Most templates include a hit counter; if you delete it, you can add one to any page in your site.

Note: The hit counter works only if you publish your site to .Mac.

To add a hit counter:
Go to the page you want to add the counter to.
Choose Insert > Button > Hit Counter.
You can drag the counter anywhere on the page, but you can't resize it, reset it, or otherwise modify it.

As you make changes to your website and republish it, the hit counter won't reset, as long as you publish the site with the same name.

yes I know, you must publish your site to .Mac for working counters.
So I did.
It is here:

http://web.mac.com/confidemusfsc/iWeb/Confidemus/Welcome.html

But I have my own server, it is
http://www.confidemus.com
which I have redirected to the .Mac web site. Here the counter is away.
Why that? IT is only a redirection, not publishing to another server?

I would also like to know the answer. it seems as though the number script looks at the url for a .mac reference? It would appear that it increments all n well, but simply wont display (add to the page after???) unless the url has .mac in it.

grr. bug. well, if you wanted to see the hits yourself, but not let the public see, then I guess its a feature.

obviously the counter counts, regardless what web address I use to go to the page.
But the counter is only to be seen when going to the .Mac site directly.

bug? feature? So what.

It's probably that way so that it's only useful for .mac users. Otherwise, I guess anyone could figure out how to put a .mac counter on any page??

Statcounter is a much better counter and works on all kinds of pages.
