Battery Not Charging after 10.6.8 Update, Battery Not Charging after 10.6.8 Update

Ok, granted my Macbook battery is not new, but it was working fine with 95%+ health until I did the 10.6.8 update. Now it suddenly won't charge at all!

The battery icon says "Battery Not Charging, Condition:Replace Now". I've tried PRAM and SMC reset to no avail several times.

So do I have to buy a new battery or is this some software issue that if I delete some library files will have me back up at 100%?

If I was fully backed up prior to the update (I know...!) then I would TM restore to prove it is the update but am not keen to do that just yet.

Macbook 13.3, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 2GHz Core Duo 2GB RAM; 320GB HDD

Hi!

Same problem since my GF updated her MB 2.4 C2D to 10.6.8

"Not charging" / "Replace now"

Even though battery has 566 cycles, it worked well before upgrading. So I don't think that's a coincidence.

I'm gonna try to contact an Apple Store in Paris and see what they say...

If any news on your side, just let me know 🙂

My cycle count is half that of the other posts on this page. It held a full charge a week ago when I last used it. SMC reset had no effect. Does anyone know what else I can do?

I am very frustrated. I just picked up my 8 month old 13" Macbook Pro today from the Apple Store after they had to replace a faulty logic board. I ran a software update this afternoon and installed the Mac OS X version 10.6.8 update (Build 10K549) and now noticed that my battery is "not charging" but for the time seems to be holding at 29%, and my green light, that is normally on, is not on.

I already did the SMC reset. No change.

Please help if you can.

Battery Not Charging after 10.6.8 Update

Both our batteries were "ageing" but working without problems and 10.6.8 reaclibrated them or something.

Rotten apple!

Software updates are supposed to improve things not make you buy more Hardware, aren't they? (Unless you're an apple designer.)

come on Apple!

I bought a new non-Apple battery off ebay for 1/4 of the price - working fine

I think I'll take this thread to the Apple Store and ask for a new battery. Stranger things have happened.
