Lion keyboard problem - all apps stop receiving key events

I'm running Lion GM on a 2-year-old MacBook Pro and am seeing very odd, intermittent problems with keyboard events. Occasionally - usually after about 5-10 minutes after logging on - no keyboard events will be sent to any application. However, I can see that the OS is still getting those events, because certain system-level key combos work (e.g. Opt+arrow to switch between spaces) and the Keyboard Viewer is still registering all keypresses. Despite this, no application (including the Finder and the password-entry box to unlock the screensaver) is getting any keyboard input.

I'm trying to work out what circumstances might be triggering this problem; so far it only seems to happen when I'm at work, using wired ethernet & wifi, bluetooth Magic Mouse, Dell secondary monitor. (At home I use a secondary monitor, wifi only, USB mouse.) The only software I'm running that I know may be responsible is BetterTouchTool - I'm going to uninstall that and see if it helps. Other than that, I have no idea.

Anyone else getting this problem?

I've been doing some research on this problem as I suffer from it as well. Here's what I know:

The problem: When using Cntl+left/right to switch between Spaces, the keyboard quits working with the exception of still being able to switch spaces (maybe the keyboard works fine and something is blocking the keyboards input events).

The research: I have remove com.apple.Dock (controls MC) and com.apple.symbolichotkeys (where keyboard shortcuts are stored), logged out, logged back in to let the system rebuild these files. This DID NOT fix the issue.

The current workarounds:

1) Many believe you must restart, or at least log out to fix the problem. Don't waste your time. Open Activity Monitor with your mouse (since it's still working), find Dock, and Force Quit. Once the Dock relaunches, your keyboard will be working again.

2) Go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts and disable all shortcuts to Mission Control. This way, if you accidentally hit that command, it won't matter anymore.

Hope this gives some clarification to the issue and how to work around it until Apple patches this bug.

Well I am now a victim of this issue too. Only I have just upgraded my 2009 MBP to the brand new full release of Lion (not beta or GM) Apple needs to take care of this issue fast. I use keyboard shortcuts for everything and I LIKE my multi desktops. For those of you that have this issue are you all experiencing it on a 2 year old machine? Is our hardware causing the problems?

I've a similar problem on a 2008 Macbook Air (second generation).

But with my MBA not only the keyboard but also trackpad stops working. And its not triggered by mission controll but by the dashboard I guess. At least it didn't happen yet unless I open this up...

Also an external mighty mouse I tried to connect doesn't react (its powered as its showing light) the only thing that makes the computer react is the "on / off" button with which I'm doing a hard reset.
