Closing open apps on iPad 2.
I am trying to close down my open applications on my iPad2. I know you have to hit the home button twice to see what ones are open. How do you close them down?

Hold your finger on one of the icons until they dance and have the minus signs, then tap the minus signs! 🙂
Not quite true.
The apps you see are not open, they are recently used.
There should be no need to do anything but hit the home button once to exit an app. Very few apps run on the background and the ios manages those.
If you really feel the need, you can hold an icon until they all wiggle, then hit the "-" in the corner, but again, there is really no need to do this.
If necessary, you can force quit an app.
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then press and hold the Home button until the app quits.
That is a fast app switching or recently used apps bar. Just because an app is in the recently used apps bar does not mean the app is running or open - for the most part just means the app was recently used. Very few apps run in the background.
