grinding, whirring, chainsaw noise upon startup

I am hearing a grinding, whirring, sort of chainsaw noise when I start up my MacBook Pro 13. I just bought it refurb last week. This noise does not last longer than the start up time, very brief, but seems to be consistent. Should I be worried?

Yes, it sounds like the hard drive is going bad, make sure you have a current back-up. Check this link for the sound http://datacent.com/hard_drive_sounds.php

The CD/DVD drive goes through a reset sequence just before the chime starts. If that's what you are hearing, it's normal.
