i just wanted to make an Titel-Animation.
Scaling and opacity works fine with the keyframe editor but when i want to set keyframes for type kerning or type height it doesnt show anything in the viewer.
Any ideas how that works?

Which specific Title are you working with? It sounds like you are using one that does not publish those parameters. Have you tried using an alternate Title template as the basis for your animated effect?
For what it's worth, the basic design principle behind the Effects / Titles / Generators etc built into FCP X is to keep the controls as simple as possible (this is a dictate from Apple's ProApps devlopment team) ... so I'm thinking that if you need to do something beyond the scope of the built-in tools then you might want to consider using Motion 5 instead ... you can use Motion to build and control far more complex effects than is possible directly in FCPX, plus you can also publish the finished effects you've built as templates, right back in to your FCPX install. Its cool.

Report it to feedback. The tracking slider animates in the animates in playback but the title tracking doesn't change.

But I am using the standard Text-title. My FCPX is in german, but the name in english should be "customize".
Here is a picture: – You can see the set keyframe. But it just don't work.
Instead of Motion I use After Effects. But I think this Keyframe-Animation should work in FCPX.

Kerning is spacing between individual characters, whereas Tracking is spacing between all characters ... generally folks animate Tracking to provide a regular chracater spread animation.

If I'm understanding all these new functions correctly, the issue here may be that the tracking and size parameters are not explicitly published ... I just opened the effect in Motion 5, deleted the existing behaviours (and associated rig) and then simply published all he regular text parameters. When I jump back into FCPX then the effect shows up as a simple text generator and all the tracking and size parameters etc can all be animate as expected.
Is there a basic text tool in FCPX? I tried custom, which has rigging but no build in. I tried a basic lower that doesn't look rigged. I tried a build in/out switching them off, but I couldn't get it to work in FCPX. That's a problem if FCPX is sold as a standalone app.
Agreed, seems too much of an oversight so am guessing I am missing something. Until we figure it out though you can try just adding this to your ~/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles folder ... its the Basic Text Title I just tested the above with.
Can you build in using opacity keyframes (for the Custom title)?
I'd have though Opacity is implicity supported as with any clip (via the Compositing control under the Video tab), no?

@hafken: The easiest way with opacity is the composting control.
Not perfect sadly, it only has the basic controls after all ... but hopefully its a good enough starting point.
that's kind of what i meant -- just fade-in/out at the clip level (the clip being the title itself).
using 'custom' is a bit overkill though for simple tasks; so i agree that apple should have included a basic text template like the one Andy created.
