For New Playlist,

Go to Playlist and Select Add Playlist,

It will pop up songs list and you have to find current song and add in to that playlist.

you can add more songs too.

For Old Playlist,

Go to playlist and select the playlist.

Select edit on top of the playlist.

Add symbol will pop up on top left side.

Hit that and it will pop up songs list and you have to find current song and add in to that playlist.

If you have tons of songs, how to find current song?

Ans: Just scroll songs so fast you will see 'Voice symbol' next to current playing song. than add it.

You need to reread the original post that started this thread. I'll walk you through it.

Choose any song on your iPhone in the iPod app and press play so it starts up and is playing.

Is it playing and showing on your screen?

Now, tell me how, while that song is playing, without exiting, going to playlists, etc., you can add that song to an existing playlist?

My guess is the OP has, or had, an iPod. On my Nano while a song is playing you can hold down the select button while it is playing and it will add it to a playlist.

Your suggestion does work but it is not what the OP wants to do, he is looking for a shortcut.

So let me stop you right here. IF you are a paid authorized developer or a beta tester then you have entered into a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and you cannot say anything further about iOS 5 here in a public forum without violating that agreement.

If you are not either of the above you should not have iOS 5 on your iPhone.

So which is it, do you have an unauthorized copy or are you violating your NDA?

It doesn't matter that you gave the "correct" answer, that is not what the OP was looking for, he already knew how to add songs to a playlist in that manner, he was looking for a shortcut. So you did not have an answer he could use.

Good to know that it is also not available in iOS 5, but you need to cease and desist from posting this information.
