Accessory Not Supported By Ipod Touch???

I received an iHome speaker system for Christmas, which worked fine up until a month or so ago. I now get the message "This accessory is not support by Ipod Touch". I have restored my Ipod, and even sent the speaker dock back to iHome and they replaced it, but it is still giving me the same error. I really don't think the iHome product is the problem.

The docking pin of my ipod appears to have maybe some dirt or corrosion on it. Not sure, but it just looks like something is up. Should I send my Ipod into Apple at this point to see if something is up with the pin? Any other suggestions?

So frustrated right now....

Thanks for any help!

The nearest Genius Bar is a 3 hour drive from my home, which isn't very feasible. I had my niece bring her ipod over tonight and it works fine on the iHome system. The only difference between the two is her hardware version is a little older than mine.

So I think it is either the last hardware update I did that somehow messed things up or it has to do with the docking pin.

With the bar being so far from home should I pay for some support from Apple? I just don't know where to begin. This has been such a nightmare for me.
