Will a replacement iPod Touch be the same generation?

Hey there,

Recently the headphone jacks for my 2nd Generation iPod Touch broke. My warranty is expired so I'll bring it to an Apple store for repair/replacement for $99. I was wondering, if I sent my iPod Touch for replacement at the Apple Store, would I receive a newer generation iPod Touch or would I receive a refurbished 2nd Generation iPod Touch?

Thanks!

iPod touch, iOS 4.1

An exchange under warranty will be a new or refurbished iPod - the same model or generation with no option to upgrade.

The out of warranty "repair" price pays for an exchange at a discounted price off the full retail price - the same model or generation with no option to upgrade. More than likely the exchange will be refurbished with no way to tell the difference.

If you want the current iPod Touch generation, sell your iPod as is and use the proceeds to purchase a new iPod Touch.
