Hi,
i want to install the latest ATI / AMD drivers for my brand new iMac 2011 6970M 2GB under windows 7 to play GAMES (<- one of the reasons to buy a new mac)
What I tried:
1.: Update with latest mobilty driver vom amd. -> doesn't work.
2.: Uninstall all amd software (driver sweeper)
Install the latest drivers... -> doesn't work.
What should i do? Buy a PC?

I know people are using the latest AMD mobility.
You would need Windows 7 64-bit so here it is:

And yes, a PC is easier and better supported, plus you can build to your own needs and specs.
Thats was the same drivers I tried to install at "1.", but its still 11.1

Then it is something else under the hood that is blocking or interfering I guess.
I've read that older Driver Sweeper interferred with Windows SP1 update as did some AV suites and cloning utilities.
Uninstalling program and driver, or rollback.
I assume you used the latest Driver Sweeper 3.0+
I have installed Driver Sweeper 3.1.0.
After cleaning windows install the default driver "standard vga". I tried to install the latest amd mobilty drivers at this point without success. Only the BootCamp drivers can be installed.
I installed other driver and it works fine for me. :
ATI 11.6 Catalyst drivers...

Did you have to do anything other than what was mentioned in that post? I've just tried the exact same thing and it seems to install fine. But when I check in c:\program files\ATI Technology there are no driver files and the Display Adapter remains as Standard VGA. Only the Bootcamp drivers on the DVD are working for me.

did you try to update the drivers without uninstalling the apple drivers?
Yeah, although the driver version is 11.7 now. Will try to use the 11.6 driver instead and let you know.
