Hp printer help

Well I just bought this Hp Officejet 5610, and I connected it to a windows xp machine. I put the printer to sharing, and I connected it all. Then I go to my iBook to set it up, the printer thing sees the iBook but it won't install it... the model isn't found in the Hp printer driver. I updated and installed the newest software and driver from hp and it still isn't found. So i uninstall it from bothe computers then I reinstall it the same thing. Except now I can't scan to my windows machine, just print! I NEED help. can't find driver and I can't scan.

On the XP PC, use System Restore to take the PC back to the point when you could print and scan.

On the Mac you will need to use a third party driver.

It may work with a third-party driver such as the HPIJS drivers or the Gimp-Print drivers, but this is not the case with all printers.

I tried it but it had EVERYTHING but my 5610.. and i found a 5610 on the site but it was only for linux..... i tried download loading the latest 7.4.2 but the driver still doesn't appear... HELP

In that case your only option is to connect the printer to the Macs when you want to print.

If connected to a Mac and shared, your XP PC should be able to print (but not scan).
