Movies HD

When I buy a movie from iTunes, if I am correct, it shows a standard and a HD version being downloaded. If this is correct why they HD version? My iPod/iPad will not show HD. And when I hook my iPod up to my TV I do not believe it will be displayed in HD. So far I have delected the HD version as it takes a long time to download. I guess my question is why the HD version unless, I guess, if you have an Apple TV unit to show the HD version. Have I confused you sufficiently to not be able to answer my question?

When you buy an HD movie, you get the SD version with it for viewing on iphone/ipods.

If you buy the SD version, then you get ONLY the SD version.

You are buying HD movies. If you do not need the HD movie, then do not buy it. Buy the SD movie.
