Question

compressing to h264 flv

Hi All,

We need to compress quicktime mov files to flv files using an H264 codec for the video and AAC for the audio. It's so that our streaming solution can easily convert them for iOS (Don't ask why/how etc - that's just what they need)

We have compressor, Sorenson Squeeze and Adobe Media Encoder and none of them will let me do it. I can create flv with the On2 codec and MP3 audio. I can create MP4s with AAC audio but can't output them as .FLV. Changing the file extension doesn't do the trick.

Apparanty FFMpeg does it but we are solely mac based. Does anybody know of a way of doing this on a Mac please?

Hi Richard Have a look at this http://compressorpack.com/presets.php there is a FLV export preset

i,m not sure if this works with Compressor 4 but its only a bunch of preset so you might be able to ad them manually

Use Compressor or Quicktime 7 Pro using the h.264 codec as a .mov. Change the .mov extention to .flv.

Works perfectly. Thanks. It would be great if Apple had an output in Compressor to FLV, but I guess until the Adobe fued is over, that ain't going to happen.

Changing the file extension won't change the file type.

To make .FLV files you need Adobe Flash or Premiere (.flv = Flash video).

It works... has worked for many years. .FLV is just a container for the video. Changing the container from .mov to .flv does work... Please read JL Vegas reply.
