Hi there, on my iMac when i close an app, that app close, but stays open on dock, how can i put it to close at all.
iMac - 2.4Ghz I 3Gb Ram I 320GB HDD I 256Mb Graphic Board, Mac OS X (10.6.1), Personal
Click your Apple menu (top of your screen) then click: Force Quit
Select the app that won't quit, then click Force Quit.
There isn't another way? When i click on X that app close and not stay active on dock
Clicking on the red dot or X does not close quit all OS X applications like it does windows, you must quit those Applications from the drop-down menu or by control clicking on the dock icon and quitting the application.

But i was on Apple shop today and i was trying macbook pro and the apps close when i click on X, that's way i asking....
No it didn't. Macs have been different in this way from Windows PC for decades. my preference is to go down to the icon in the dock and either two finger on my magic trackpad or right click on my magic mouse (or any mouse) and select quit. That is the way you close an App on Macs.

With the program active (its name appears in the Application menu, which is the menu just to the right of the Apple in the main menubar), you can also just press Command-Q to quit the program.
Just because an app's icon remains in the Dock does not mean it is still running. Keeping an app's icon in the Dock even when it is not running is an option, to make it easier to start up the app if it is not running, or to switch to it if it is running.
There is a small indicator 'light' that will appear beneath an app's icon to indicate it is still running (or to the inboard side of it if the Dock is on either side instead of the bottom of the screen).
