I have just installed Snow Leopard which I've been told is the only OS that has native support for the PS3 Six Axis controller and I want to set it up but have little knowledge about these things. How should I start?

Actually they do, its not well known, i used to be able to do it, the origionalway to do it was to plug the remote in, press the ps button, unplug it and immediately press the ps button and it automatically connected for use instantly, now it requires a keycode and i dont know what the number is or how to disable it.
could anyone help me on this please?
Never heard of this, why would Apple support a PS3 controller?
Check with Sony. It's their device.
Keycode the PS3 controller is 0000, at least thats what I used and it seemed to recognize it right away. It doesn't work so well with Steam though.
My mate plays on his macbook pro all the time with his ps3 controller, i tried it on my MBA and it just fails
ah, that might be it, i was doing it with a steam game, might just be the computer though
