Dropped and now occasional screen distortion issues

Sister dropped my macbook pro this morning and when I booted up the screen from sleep, the screen along the bottom dock and up the right side, was normal but there were black squares checkered up and down it. I restarted the computer and they were gone, but I am worried the problem may be lasting?? Any suggestions as to what could be wrong and how I could fix it?
