Photobooth black screens for a while

I just received my new Mac Pro and already, the camera turns dark after a few photos are taken in Photobooth. I have to click on one of the animated effects (ie rollercoaster, yosemite, etc) and step out of the frame before the lighting goes back to normal. When this happens, my FaceTime also turns very dark. This is a new replacement computer because the one before it only lasted a couple days before the same thing happened its camera, too. I really don't want to have to finally give up and return this computer and accept defeat when it comes to Macs. Is this happening to anyone else? What solution have you found?
