When I click on any application, it opens for a split second but goes back to home screen. When I go to Sync apps in ITunes it says I will lose all the apps and their data. I found few similar questions but no answer. Please help ! Thank you

first try to restart the iphone

if that don't work try going to app store and download any free app you can delete it afterwards that fix it for many too

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
Try them in that order.
Thanks a lot. I restarted it, reinstalled ITunes and deauthorised my computer. I can download applications but they just stay in my ITunes and I can't access them as they are 'greyed out'. I also cant download the new software 4.3.4 as keep getting a message 'network connection timed out'. I haven't got a problem with the connection as tried at home and work and same error.
I disconnected my antivirus/firewalls and managed to download and update the software but the applications still close after a second 😟

Thanks everyone. I disabled the antivirus, backed up my iphone, restored to factory setting and everything is sorted. All my previous applications are with their data that was on the phone. I guess the antivirus was the issue.
I can't access applications on my IPhone.
