Pasting objects: same position???

Hi all,

I just created a few shapes on a page in iWork '09s Pages I need for a presentation.

I just oriënted them right, and now I want those same shapes on the next page, only with a different color.

So I selected them all by Cmd-clicking, and then I copied them and pasted them on the next page.

Unfortunately, the oriëntation of the object got messed up.

They all got cramped up in the upper left corner of the document, and I soon found out why:

The original ones are floating objects, whereas the pasted ones are inline objects. Clicking the 'floating'

button while having the pasted ones selected doesn't change anything.

Is there any way I can paste the objects on the next page so that the pasted ones have the same oriëntation as the original ones?

Thanks!

Hi Bob,

Pasting those shapes into a text field will result in them being Inline. Had you Command-Clicked in the margin to deselect the text area and the pasted, I imagine the shapes would have gone in as Floating.

To be on the safe side, I would have grouped the objects before copying them. Then Command-click on the second page away from any text field and Paste. Confirm that the grouped object in Floating and fix it if it isn't. Lastly, Arrange > Ungroup.
