I have a MacBook that I plan on downloading and installing OSX Lion. After purchasing it for the MacBook, will it drop into my purchased folder so that I can download it on my iMac for free or will this require an additional purchase?

No. As long as the computers are yours, or in your control, you can download Lion to each one, but only pay once. Or, if you have bandwidth limitations, you can transfer the Lion Installer from one Mac to another through the usual means, network, direct cable, thumbdrive, etc.
