Q: Trouble Installing Final Cut Studio 3.0
Hi, I've owned all three versions of Final Cut Studio and have been very satisfied with them. In the last 2 months I had trouble with my Mac Pro 1,1 (2006). The short of it is I took it to the Apple Store and had the OS put on my new 3tb internal hard drive. The old drive kept failing me due to a problem with the library (something to do with iPhoto).
So when Snow Leopard was put on the new drive it was like getting a new computer. I had to reinstall applications. I've kept the number of applications I've installed to a minimum as I mainly want to use this computer for Final Cut. I pulled out my Final Cut Studio 3.0 Discs and began installing it July 12, 2011.
First I put in the Final Cut Studio Install DVD, then it asks for Audio Content 1, then Audio Content 2, then Final Cut Studio Install DVD again. When I put in the FCS Install DVD again it then says, "Install Error." I find it weird that it never asks me for Audio Content 3. It's been a couple years since I installed this so I've forgotten the proper steps.
Since the 12th I've updated the software on the Mac 4 different times. Each time there's an update for Pro Applications. It never addresses install issues. Most people in the world aren't reinstalling their copies of Final Cut Studio at this point. Lion comes out tomorrow and then we have Final Cut X being pushed on the professional community.
I currently am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. It doesn't get more current than that. Does anyone out there know what's happening? Yes I can drag my huge Mac Pro Tower down to the Apple Store for the 4th time in the last month but I'd prefer not to do so.
Again this is a new drive and there are no remnants of Final Cut Studio on here from before, except for my attempts at installing. Note: I've tried it both ways- 1. I delete all of what's been installed and tried it again. 2. I've just tried to reinstall without deleting anything. I keep getting the same error.
I'd appreciate your help on this. I'm really trying to get some work done, but lately I feel like I'm working my tail off trying to get all my tools sharpened correctly, the right size tools, than actually getting any work done.
