Problem with Epson Photo 3170 Scanner

Hi,

I bought a new Apple and installed Mac OS X 10.6.8 and my epson photo 3170 scanner is not working.

I read here that my scanner is supported -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#epson

I did Software update and downloaded the latest version, but still doesnt work.

I also installed Roseta, but i cant find the option in Photoshop (using control+i) it only gives me option for 32bit mode.

any ideas?

thanks ;-)

Download the ICA Scanner Driver 5.30 for Image Capture from the Epson drivers page you've linked above. That is compatible with Snow Leopard and should enable you to scan directly from Image Capture or Preview.

Only someone who does have an Epson 3170 can meaningfully test his or her suggestions to you, so I can't be certain this suggestion will work. I have an Epson V500 Photo and Epson Scan 3.74, the latest version for that scanner, and it works well.

I recommend buying the VueScan application to scan with, ESPECIALLY if you have the Epson Perfection 3170 auto sheet feeder like we do. Image Capture is real basic and doesn't support the sheet feeder OR automatically open our scanned PDFs in Adobe Acrobat for editing / OCR like VueScan does.

Look for the trial version on MacUpdate or the VueScan developer's website to try before you buy.
