Ical can´t save the event "event name" to the exchange server

I have been trying to set up iCal to work with exchange in several Macs runnig Snow Leopard but there seems to be some time zone issue.

When I try to save a new event, I get a error: iCal can't save the event "event name" to the exchange server. The account "account name" currently can't be modified, to discard... If I change the city in time zone preferences to anything outside Mexico (for example Dallas Tx.) then everything works perfect, the problem is all of my users are in Mexico City aund using CST instead may cause other problems.

I have tried with time zone support enabled and also disabled.

Something very odd is that existing events can be modified or deleted, even with the city set to Mexico in time zone preferences.

¿Any suggestions?

UPDATE, I installed Lion in one computer, and guess what, THE PROBLEM CONTINUES!!!!!!! exactly the same symptoms... any suggestions?, anyone?.

UPDATE 2: Found aother post that explains that this problem was fixed by enabling time zone support in iCal and then changing the city to the correct one by clicking in the upper right corner of iCal´s window where the time zone is displayed. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2140073

Well, I followed instructions mentioned above. By clicking on the upper right corner, a new window opens showing current iCal time zone settings (Not the same as Mac OS), in this window, time zone seems right (CDT), but as closest city, "UTC-UTC" is selected, so I change this to México and click OK, but the problem continues. If I go back to this iCal´s time zone window, "UTC-UTC" is still selected! and no mater how many times i change it back, after clicking OK, "UTC-UTC" comes back!.

Something else I just found out is that if the city is changed to anything outside Mexico within the same time zone in system preferences, as I mentioned before I can save events, but now in the upper right corner of iCal, I have two different CDT´s, one named "CDT Central Time" (the one that works) and other named "CDT Central Standard Time" (the one that doesn't).

My guess is that because daylight saving start and finish dates in Mexico are different from USA's, Apple created a different time zone with Mexico's rules (CDT CentralStandard Time) but something is wrong with it.

I'm having the exact same issue, Im in Mexico City and ical is not saving Mexico City location, instead it saves UTC - UTC.

For now I did the same, I just selected Dallas USA as my city but we will have problems with daylight savings.

Did you find any solution?

I have the same issue. I'm accessing two exchange servers and have the same problem.

I guess some body can help us with this.

Meanwhile I configured with the Houston time, and works... thanks for your hint.

Since my last post I've been using iCal with Central Time Zone with Dallas, TX as city due to the fact that as we all know Mexico City does not work.

To configure it go to:

iCal > Preferences > Advanced

Turn on time zone support

Close iCal re open it and in the top right corner you will see a drop down named Central Time, click in other and select Dallas - U.S.A.

If you are CST this is a good workaround.

Exact same problem: The account "Exchange" currently can’t be modified... I folowed the procedure exactly and when trying to go "on line" this happened again. 😟

Im sorry this Dallas time workaround does not work anymore due to they are one hour ahead from us in Mexico City now !

Apple for god sake please fix this !!! I can not update my calendar from my MacBook because of this bug.

Hi. I had the same problem, I'm in Mexico City time zone, the workaround it's not funcional because daylight saving start and finish dates in Mexico are different from USA.

Por some reason this is the same problem with me, I simply cannot create events on iCal. I am also in Mexico City so that seems to be a constant.

I am using Exchange 2010 with Lion 10.7.4 and iCal Version 5.0.3 (1605.3)

I'm also in Mexico, I'm amazed this problem with the lack of support of iCal for Mexico, unbelievable. I'm now on 10.8 Mountain Lion and it's still impossible to add events to iCal.

The Dallas workaround works if I select everytime I want to add an event a new CT zone city, Fort Worth, etc.. and then it lets me add a new event, but if I leave it there the error pop up comes back again, I I have to revert to server.

Let's keep posting until Apple ackknowledges the error and corrects it soon!

Since I migrated to Exchange 2007 and started using Snow Lion, iCal has the same error, the problem with me is that one user has four computers, some of them with windows and the other ones with mac, so even using the workaround "dallas tx", something the events wont sync because of the time zone, or the recurrence events may cause problems......... i have been trying to fix this for about a year and I have no solution at all......

Does anyone has found something???..... the only true workaround is to use Outlook for Mac, and stop using iCal.

Another thing....

I had tryed using Exchange 2007, Exchange 2010, and the same problem.....

Also with 5 different server and the same problem...........

Also with Outlook 365 and the same problem.............

So, it´s an apple bug..........

FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be FIRED if not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
