fastest/easiest change font (900 slides)

I'm trying to change the font size on almost a thousand slides, and so far I've been doing it one-by-one. Is there a quicker way to do this?

For some reason, the "Select All" function won't let me do this. I've tried creating just one master slide, but I still can't get the font to change automatically.

For now, I've just been copying the slides one-by-one, and using "Paste and Match Style" into new text boxes which contain the desired font. I can continue to do this, but it will take me an entire day's work.

Does anybody have any ideas?

I'm also wondering if I could somehow create a "custom font" for my own files, save it, and create some kind of keyboard shortcut to apply that font to text boxes (I want the files to download easily to iPhone, so it would be Helvetica 24, Regular, justification left and upper).

Thanks!

By Keynote 7...

  • Edit your master slides
  • Grab a "Title"..
  • Change it how you want..
  • Next to the "Style" selection at the top of the "Text" settings tool hit "Update" ...
  • .. which will update the use of that style throughout..
  • .. Repeat for each style..

Thank you so much! I've been reformatting lecture slides to make them printer friendly for a visually impaired student. I built most of my lectures without knowing what Master Slides were, so I've been going slide by slide and reformatting individual text blocks. I knew there must be an easier way!

Outline View worked just as you described with 7.0.5. Selected all text on each slide, then was able to simply change the text color and remove a drop shadow effect. Changes propagated across all slides correctly.

Are you trying to change all the fonts, or just some fonts? If you want to change all fonts on all slides, change the view to Outline, command a and then use the drop down menu in the Format Bar to change the font to what ever you want.

If you are just trying to change one certain font to go to FontBook and turn off the font you want to change. Then when you open your Keynote, you should get a Document Warning box showing that the font is missing. It will give you the option to select font you want to replace it with. Using this method, you can change a font, but not a font size.

I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!!!!! Pay it forward, pass this along.

The easiest way to change ALL fonts on EVERY slide of the ENTIRE slide show AT ONCE: (for Keynote)

> "View"

> "Show Document Warnings"

> Click "Description" Box (so all words, symbols, etc. listed become highlighted)

> "Replace Font" tab will become ungreyed

> Click, "Replace Font"

> Select the font you want the slideshow to be replaced with

Voila!

Sadly, I confirmed with Apple level 2 support that there is no Find/Replace font function in Keynote 6.2 and the (very helpful and pleasant) tech didn't think there is such a function in 6.5 either.

Unfortunately, this is a critical feature omission and a major usability failure.

This is especially true for anyone who creates presentations for anything other than casual use.

The most prominent new features listed for Keynote 6.5 on the app store have to do with iOS compatibility and cloud features. (rolling my eyes)

The Mac version should never have been changed until its feature set matched or exceeded previous versions, and preferably added features that were already much needed.

Having the Mac versions of the software downgraded to match the iOS versions is a huge setback.

I totally agree, Keynote version 6.2 is the worse update ever. It actually works AGAINST you and all the features that were in Keynote '09 that were production friendly, have been removed. Why do I need to click on a color icon to get permission to change colors for every single element? This is unbelievably frustrating. The animations, the menu bar that is permanently attached... amazingly stupid.
