Anyone else getting "Invalid serial number" when going through the upgrading process at http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate ?
Yes, I have the same issue. I bought my MacBook Pro 15in at the end of June custom build, but when I try to go through the upgrade process I receive that my Mac is ineligible for update. I wonder what should I do?

Same issue here... custom built MBP bought July 10 from the US Apple Online Store.

same problem here! just called the apple hotline. they told me to try again later. they are aware of the problem, many users already called.
Sounds like it's got something to do with custom builds.

I bought my macbook on the 11th July at the apple online store, and today came out on July 20th according to Apple lion and a lion could upgrade for free, my surprise is that when I put the serial from my macbook tells me that my new serial not eligible and the worst is that I am not in USA now someone know how to fix I have the invoice of my own apple and itunes comes upmuch of buying a macbook and an iphone on the 11th July (Excuse my English )

Bought my MacBook Pro CTO June 20th through Apple Online Store, the Up2Date program says, my SN would not be valid ...:/
I rang up Apple support and they confirmed that it was not just me. I told my assistant my serial number and he was able to read out what my product was and when I purchased it, so my serial number is still working. It's just a problem with the servers by the looks of things, so give it time 🙂

I have MacBook Pro 15.4 inch, with hi-res glossy screen upgrade and 128gb SSD upgrade, and I am encountering the problem, if that helps.
