Logic Pro 8 is not supported under Lion?

Is there a reason why Logic Pro 8 is NOT supported by Lion. I have been holding off buying Logic 9 for the next Logic release and now I am a little dead in the water. Is my only real option to go back to Snow Leopard? I still don't understand how Logic 8 and Intel native app could fall over.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7)

I wonder what the difference between 9.1.3 and 9.1.4 is that makes the latter Lion compatible but the former not?

Good question, I wonder if 9.1.4 actually is more Lion compatible or Apple is just saying that. They REALLY need to get 9.1.5 out ASAP since there are new bugs in 9.1.4 and it seems to have some issues with 10.7 despite the claim of being officially supported.

The trick works!

Logic 8 under Lion (launched with the mentioned workaround) is even more stable and faster for me than it was under Snow Leopard... 😮

I just had to rescan a plugin that first time was crashing (Absynth 4) and install the latest version of EastWest Play (3.x), but then Logiic gives me less "System overload" problems even with my heaviest project (Symphonic Choir + Symphobia) than it was before.

I installed Lion on a clean external usb hard disk, then imported my Snow Leopard backup (files and apps) from the Time Machine backup.

Lion has got some quirks sometimes, but overall I'm quite satisfact by it (90%) in terms of performance and stability.

I think I'll upgrade my real Snow Leopard partition when 10.7.1 comes out (if no major bugs are to be found).

Thank you Robert!

What's the problem you are having with Mainstage?

It runs fine here on my 2006 MacPro with 10.7 and Logic Pro 8.0.2 etc (and my MacBook mobile setup with 10.7)

I just double click 'Mainstage' after a while a splash screen shows, when I get bored with looking at the splash screen, I click on it, it goes away, and then I choose my selections from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

I'll be carrying on with Mainstage when I've posted this in fact 😀

ps Mainstage version reports as 1.0.2 with 283.7 beneath that.

pps No jiggery pokery required, just double click on the app.

Thanks Rob, that does work, though I have lost about 30% of my plugins. Also I am unable to start Logic by simply clicking the Logic icon on my Toolbar or Apps. I can only start Logic using your method. I was hoping that now that it has ran Logic, it would have fixed it so that it opened as normal, but it seems not. A solution for this would be very much appreciated.

I have to confess though, I was foolish to install OS X Lion, having a very long history of Apple and Logic. For some strange reason, Apple have always had it in for Logic users and since when Logic was an Emagic product, Apple have always rendered slightly older versions of Logic useless, forcing users to constantly pay for the newest versions. It's pretty poor form on Apples part, when you consider that only anout 1% of musicians make any money out of it.

This fix will get me by, but sadly it seems that Apple have screwed me once again and I will be forced to pay for yet another Logic update that I don't need.

Be assured people, this fix may work now, but Apple will ensure that it doesn't in the subsiquent Lion updates. Be ready to pay up kids!

But EVERYTHING is overpriced in Australia!

Cigarettes in the US (Texas and most states) = $6.00, Australia = $18.00

Same jeans I bought in LA for $99 were $270 in Sydney.

McDonalds in the US = $6.00, Australia = $13.00

So of course Apple is charging you more, do you complain about every other company charging more than they do in the US?

Don't get mad at Apple, get mad at your minimum wage being $19.40 versus the US minimum wage being an average of $7.50. When everything else is roughly 2.5 to 3.5 times more expensive than the US, consider yourself lucky that Apple is only charging 2 times more.

Just my two cents

Logic Pro 8 is not supported under Lion?
