How to edit launchpad

I have found that in Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 you can open LaunchPad and hold down "ALT/Option" key. The icons will wiggle similar to how they do when you edit icons on the I Pad & you will get the "X" on the upper left corner of Applications that can be deleted from the LaunchPad. You can also drag to re-arrang & combine in categories also.

You can go to your launchpad, drag the icon/s onto the bar with all your stuff on it (located bottom or side of screen) to make a copy of the icon. Right-click (two finger) the icon on your bar and select Options then Show In Finder. A screen will pop up that displays the original icon. Highlight and drag icon from folder into Trash. The you can delete it from there and it's gone off of your Launchpad.

Anyhow, here’s what you do to clear out those pesky apps in your Launchpad. Load up Terminal (

/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db 'DELETE FROM apps;' && killall Dock

Voila. Your Launchpad should now be empty. You can drag apps in normally by dropping them into the Launchpad icon in your dock

What you mean? There in you application folder.

You can hold in a app in launchpad till dance and the X appear then you can move it or delete it but it delete from your system i think..

That is very nice trick thanks, got rid of all the app you cannot remove with the normal «x»

The hold in a app in launchpad till dance and the X appears , only works with Appple Store purchased Apps.

This solves that by choosing what you want in Lanchpad.
