Lion is running much hotter then snow leopard. At Idle I am about 30 degrees F higher then before. And tends to escalate extremely fast from there. Any one else noticing similar trends? Or an idea on how to solve it?

Same problem with my Mac mini 2,1 here.

I can verify that my MacBook Air (late 2010) is much better after Spotlight finishes indexing my drive. However, I am getting random spinning beachballs here and there. I hope a software update or two will help this...

i have 2010 MBA 11inch 2GB ram 64GB SSD.
even after spotlight indexing. i still think the air is very hot with LION. even now i have only Chrome, and MSN messenger running. my Fan speed is 2454rpm, CPU is 55'C. if i turn on Pages or Mail, the fan speed could have gone up to 5000rpm and CPU temps is 70'C.
i wish i could get Snow Leopard back and a refund for purchasing lion. i prefer a COLD stable Queit Macbook air
2010 13" MBP 4GB ram. I update to Lion yesterday and I've noticed with the same amount of usage, Lion is running significantly hotter. I'll take suggestions.
Yeah mine is still around 10-20 degrees on average. But no longer alarming temps
my mail app let's my MBP up to 800% CPU Usage. The MBP gets an cooking plattform for my morning eggs 😉
Yes. i agree with all the Apple users. The temperature has been significantly increaded in up to 20 degrees. Mine is Macbook Pro 2010 with still 150GB free space. I also rather prefer a cold macbook pro. Hopefully an update will get rid of this.🙂
I observed the same, CPU temp is going up to 63-65°C. Lot of HD activity. Today after 1 day of update to Lion, HD activity is back to normal, but temp. still stands high.

mine is the same, even after the spotlight finished indexing, the macbook pro is running hotter at around 5°C more than snow leopard, during normal web surfing (no flash)
My CPU usage awalys 60% in idle conditions. And the fan is keep on running. Whats the solution?
