Error reading settings on Server app

I have the same issue.

I am not sure if Server uses the same apache as MacOS, I wouldn't expect it to do so though.

WIKI Server and WebServer give me Error reading settings msg.

I would love to see a response with a solution as well ;-)

Same here. My test mini had a clean install of 10.6 and then upgraded with no problem to 10.7. Another dev server upgraded but now has error reading settings issue. I tried copying the httpd.conf from the working machine to the broken one and that seemed to work until a reboot. Should I be using the httpd.conf.default maybe?

You could try to restore the default config file.

make sure server.app is closed then

cd /etc/apache2
sudo mv httpd.conf.default httpd.conf
sudo apachectl graceful

let me know if that work

Nice I was half way there. I didn't do the graceful restart. --> wonder if it wrote over it again with the bad copy.

Any chance you know how to get the wiki services running? Got the same issue with that one.

It worked fine and I added one new host from the server app, it configured, and now it can't read the file...Why would it write in something it does not understand ?

Try it again, and make sure you do the graceful restart... I had the same thing happen. Followed the directions again and it's happy for a few hours here.

For the webserver it works great. For the wiki server not... Haven't found a config file for that to recreate.

Doing a back up and rolling back to 10.6.8. My whole server is down, including email and nothing is working after the update. I'll have to wait a couple of weeks before trying Lion Server. I'm very disapointed 😐.

Documentation says you should use the following command:

sudo serveradmin command web:command=restoreFactorySettings

I would use the cp command so that you copy rather than move the file. I would also make a copy of the current file before replacing it. That way, if it doesn't work, you still have the original default in place:

cd /etc/apache2
sudo cp httpd.conf httpd.conf.old

sudo

cp httpd.conf.default httpd.conf

sudo apachectl graceful
